Who are we and what is photography to us?
We're a husband and wife team with a passion for using photography to document and share life memories with other people. We live in Montreal, Canada.
Being married to Mac implies being in front of and around cameras quite often, consequently Serena has picked up her husbands love for photography. Mac fondly recalls taking a photography elective in elementary school but it was the evolution to digital cameras when photography really took a hold of him. He studied Computer Engineering and can appreciate how the advancements in modern technology have changed the world of photography over the past decade.
Combined with advancements in digital post-processing techniques, the surge in the quantity and quality of cameras has drastically raised the bar in photography as an art medium and communication tool. We're quite thankful for the Internet. It has allowed people like us to easily share how they view the world and find inspiration. Our expectation of high quality creative images and ease of access to a worldwide community continuously inspire us to develop our photography skills.
It is certainly a challenging but exciting time to be a photographer!
Weddings
Though we enjoy many different types of photography, wedding photography is special to us because it is a unique challenge to try and describe a couple's love with a picture. We were recently married and recall many fond memories from our own wedding day. Now, we have the pleasure of working together at other people's weddings. Being a husband and wife photography team is a lot of fun! Serena brings the unique feminine perspective, as seen in the photo to the left, and Mac carries the heavy lenses (kidding--sort of).
Weddings are indeed a beautiful culmination and declaration of commitment and love but they are also usually quite busy for the bride and groom. Often they have invited many friends and family but it is impossible to be everywhere at once. Our objective with weddings is to capture the emotions of the whole day with timeless photos and this includes the special moments between guests the couple may have missed. We love it when people say "I can't believe you got a picture of this" or "That was just the right timing." The best feeling as photographers is having your work appreciated by the people who hired you. This is why we work hard to try to exceed expectations!
Other perspectives
Since we love photography, we also enjoy taking pictures of people doing what they love to do. Whether it be music, sports or special life events shared with family and friends, it is always inspiring to meet new people who are doing things important to them. When we get a chance, we also enjoy taking pictures of different types of scenery, including breathtaking natural landscapes and crowded cityscapes of architectural excellence . One of the great things about photography is how the diversity in subject is multiplied by the techniques and perspectives of the photographer.
